Description
I spend hours watching and waiting for these fascinating creatures called a Sparkling Violetear, no fatter than my thumb, to fly up and entertain me. I had been moving the feeder closer and closer until it was inside the room about 15” and they continued to come in the house for their meal.

Then this little guy, who I have now named Tom Thumb, graduated to eating from my hand. See http://youtu.be/hQEkObLN9Ag
Watch how they drink nectar at http://www.wired.com/2011/05/hummingbird-tongue-drinking/

Great title, Al! Striking image of 'your' colorful & tiny Violetear! Makes it look larger than life. Both cool & entertaining. Fvl.

What a gorgeous little creature and how wonderful that you were able to win his confidence, so that he fed out of your hand!
