Description
In 1613 a fountain designed by Carlo Maderno was installed on the square, to the right of the centrally located obelisk. To maintain symmetry, Bernini decided to install an identical copy of the fountain on the left side. The fountain was created in 1677 by Carlo Fontana. The twin fountain is spraying water from Lake Bracciano that reaches a height of about 14 meters into the air.
This digitally altered, selective coloring artwork is derived from a photograph taken March 7, 2009 during a tour of Western Europe.
