This digitally altered artwork is derived from a photograph taken April 5, 2010 in the capital, Quito, Ecuador during our exploratory tour of South and Central America.
Toward the San Francisco Plaza we find this gifted street musician who is amazingly playing his maraca while strumming, and is totally engrossed in his craft.
Yes, the streets really do slope like that in this city on the hills.
San Francisco de Quito, most often called Quito, is the capital and the second most populous city of Ecuador.
The central square of Quito is located about 25 km (15 miles) south of the equator.
Quito, along with Krakow, were the first Cultural Heritage Sites declared by UNESCO in 1978.
