Description
We were living in Tulua with 6 dogs when the call came to foster a puppy that had been hit by 2 motorcycles, was paralyzed, and not expected to survive the night. NeNe (pronounced nay-nay) gave me a look that said "Don't give up on me, I want to survive", so we persevered. The decision was made at that very moment that we would keep this little trooper if he made it through. We have never regretted that decision. Nothing was broken, but his body was no longer straight or flexible. With the help of a physiotherapist veterinary intern, we got him exercising. Gradually our little fighter was up and walking, albeit crookedly, with paralysis remaining on his right side. The front right leg was more like a straight crutch, but he had found a way to be mobile and to survive.
NeNe is a unique little character with his sideways walk, and is such a cuddly companion. He is our main doorbell with a very protective loud bark for such a little guy.
The look says it all...
