Description
I spend hours watching and waiting for these fascinating creatures called a Sparkling Violetear, no fatter than my thumb, to fly up and entertain me. I had been moving the feeder closer and closer until it was inside the room about 15” and they continued to come in the house for their meal.

Then this little guy, who I have now named Tom Thumb, graduated to eating from my hand. See http://youtu.be/hQEkObLN9Ag
Watch how they drink nectar at http://www.wired.com/2011/05/hummingbird-tongue-drinking/
Tom Thumb and I became good friends and he would be the first to noisily let me know if his feeder was empty. I miss this little guy.
