Description
This digitally altered artwork is derived from a photograph taken Sept 18, 2007 in Quebec City during our exploratory tour of the east coast of the USA and Canada on the Norwegian Dawn out of New York City.
In about 1965 I had the pleasure of seeing Felix LeClerc in concert at College Mathieu in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. This French-Canadian performer brought out his signature stool and proceeded to enthrall the audience with a folksy one-man concert. It is not something that a person easily forgets.
So, when I was admiring the amazing murals in Quebec City, I was dumbstruck to see Felix LeClerc in that familiar pose looking back at me. If only the walls could talk.
Leclerc played a major role in revitalising the Québec folk song ("chanson") tradition.
Several parks, roads, and schools in Québec have been named in his honor. The Félix Awards, given to Quebec recording artists, are named after him. In 2000, the Government of Canada honored him with a postage stamp.
Final processing done with Smart Photo Editor and Photoshop.
